SJ50 Message from the Embassy of Singapore

MESSAGE FOR THE SJ50 NEUROSCIENCE SYMPOSIUM

On behalf of the Embassy of Singapore, I wish to extend my warmest congratulations on the occasion of the SJ50 Neuroscience Symposium this afternoon.

As the title of this symposium suggests, this year we commemorate the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Singapore and Japan, known in short as SJ50. Over these last 50 years, our two countries have built an excellent and increasingly multifaceted relationship, supported in no small part by the growing number of exchanges in the area of science and technology. I am pleased to note among the list of speakers today some of our leading neurologists from major Singapore research institutions such as the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University, and the National Neuroscience Institute. I am also glad to learn of the initiative to invite young, talented Japanese researchers to Singapore. It is through such initiatives that research and people-to-people linkages are forged in a way that contributes not just to our two countries, but to the wider international community as well.

Singapore and Japan have much in common, yet our peoples bring with them their own unique strengths and qualities. On this milestone SJ50 anniversary, I wish this event every success in promoting closer cooperation between the “brains” of our countries, as we advance towards an even brighter future over the next 50 years.

Neuroscience Research - organized workshops

“How to Publish High Value Science”

Co-hosted by :
Neuroscience Research NSR/ Elsevier・The 39th Annual Meeting of Neuroscience Society

High value science is reproducible and ethical, establishing a solid baseline for future research. However, high value can also be defined as having high scientific impact in a field or for society. Neuroscience is a frontier field for the changing landscape of high value publishing that includes debates on how to ensure better replication, open data and preprint servers, editorial screening and peer review systems, publication metrics and researcher evaluation, and ethics in paper preparation. In this workshop, publishing experts will discuss how researchers and institutions can produce high value science.
